Christmas is just around the corner and while the majority of us are finishing off instilling some festive cheer into our homes we can’t help but wonder why detailed decoration is reserved to predominantly one room?
Less is definitely more when it comes to season’s greetings decoration – remember the secret is classy not tacky – however as a nation why don’t we look to sprinkle a little festive cheer throughout the home? However instead we cram everything into one room with the odd addition of small token fixtures to the outdoor space and hall way.
As a local bathroom by design specialist we suggest starting the decorative expansion works in the bathroom for a number of reasons, not including it being our area of expertise. Firstly it’s a room everyone uses, including visitors & guests. Secondly if you’re one for enjoying a long, relaxing, soak it is probably the 3rd most used room in the home, closely following the kitchen and living room.
Third and finally, we believe, by incorporating key elements you can enhance your bathing & showering experience through use of heating, lighting, scents and decorations/ornaments that are not only work during the Christmas period but for the entirety of the winter season.
Winters are cold and unless you’ve be hiding under a rock for the last … years it’s only “beginning to look a lot like Christmas” if it’s snowing. To summarise, what we’re trying to say is your bathroom needs to be warm and inviting. There are a number of things that can be done here including:
Creating the ultimate Santa’s grotto in your bathroom requires the right use of light. We suggest a dim warming tone rather than a bright and clean lighting instrument. This will also help you make your space feel warmer and more inviting and can be achieved by simply changing a lightbulb so really there’s absolutely no excuses with regards to this suggestion.
All of the following options for scents will immediately make your bathroom winter ready all it comes down to is personal preferences.
Finally nothing says Christmas like a few minor decorative ornaments / fixtures but again we urge you consider volumes – less is more! Our personal favourites include:
We suggest hand picking a few of the above, maybe 1 or 2 from each, and concentrate on these areas rather than trying to incorporate everything. Remember the bathroom / shower room is a functional space that has a purpose therefore any amount of decorative addition shouldn’t hinder its ability to perform its purpose. Our suggestions are meant to enhance your experience and not intended to cause you stress when using your winter wonderland of a suite.
