Mr & Mrs Grundy, Oakwood, Leeds, West Yorkshire - conversion of 2 wash rooms into 1

12 November 2015

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Grundy were existing customers of More Bathrooms, part of the Passmore family, when they approached us with regards to their second bath / wash room related project within the same year. Previously we had completed refurbishment works to their en-suite which was a great success with focus now being given to the main ‘house’ bathroom.

Mr & Mrs Grundy had a separate 2-piece-bathroom consisting of a bath & basin, and a solitude toilet room; due to the separate settings each room felt very small and claustrophobic and needing some serious layout rethinking and design-led inspiration.

Solution:

Having worked with the couple previously it only made sense to send the same surveyor who completed the initial works as the understanding of wants, needs and preferences was already in situ. More Bathrooms surveyor and designer, Paul Tarbard, revisited the property to start the ball rolling.

As mentioned previous, the biggest gripe was the separation of rooms and the space that this left the couple, which was next to none. Looking to overcome this issue first and foremost Paul suggest knocking through, making the two adjoining rooms into one which would open up the space quite drastically allowing for design-led inspiration in the form of relocating fixtures and product choices.

Outcome:

A once small and claustraphic bathroom with separate WC that you would struggle to turn round in was transformed into an modern, open and airy 4-piece, fully tiled, bath & shower room. Having taken out the adjoining wall the couple were left with a modern space creating design that offered both bathing and showering options – something they couldn’t have even dreamed off prior to meeting Paul.

what mr & mrs grundy said about more bathrooms:
