Easy Access Bathroom Case Study | Doncaster | South Yorkshire

Published: 2 December 2015

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Langfield had a relatively new 3 piece bathroom suite given the average years between bathroom refurbishments is around 10 years and it wasn’t that old. However due to a specific condition affecting the legs the bath was becoming particularly troublesome to get in and out of for 1 half of the couple. On the flip side however the other user wanted the ability to have a shower so there was a discussion to be had around an accessible bath / shower mixer or a separate easy access bath and standalone shower solution, in essence, turning the 3 piece suite into a 4.

Solution:

Nigel Dawson, More Bathrooms Surveyor & Designer, listened carefully to the wants and needs of both Mr & Mrs Langfield to provide them with a multi-purpose and all-encompassing solution. Firstly, due to the underlying leg condition and the requirement to have a long hot soak to ease movement, Nigel suggested an easy access bathing solution in the format of a standardised bath with powered assisted rise and fall seat. Secondly Nigel discussed the features, advantages and benefits of incorporating a shower mixer in the bath solution or a separate enclosure. A decision was made to go with the separate, low-level, shower enclosure with a curved glass surround.

Outcome:

The result of a combined, thoroughly discussed, bathroom refurbishment was one of sheer magnitude. The once inaccessible and non-personalised 3 piece bathroom suite was transformed into a stylish and accessible bath & shower solution that was not only easy on the eye but also solved all the problems leading to the renovation. The new, striking white & grey, 4 piece, fully tiled suite consisted of a low level shower enclosure with curved glass screen, an easy access bath with powered assisted rise and fall seat, new back to wall soft close WC and pedestal basin with illuminated mirror.

what did mr & mrs langfield say about more bathrooms:
