Background
Our client first contacted the team via a telephone enquiry, arranging a free design consultation to explore how her existing bathroom in Ilkley could be transformed.
The room was dated and poorly arranged, featuring a bath with shower over, basin and WC that didn’t make full use of the available space.The layout felt restrictive, with limited flow and very little consideration for how the room was used day-to-day.
Following a serious accident, our client found the bath increasingly difficult to use and wanted to replace it with a walk-in shower that would be safer, more accessible and easier to live with. As the bathroom is shared with her teenage son and daughter, it also needed to function as a practical family bathroom, balancing comfort, usability and durability.
Alongside this, our client was keen to introduce a more modern, spa-like feel, creating a space that felt calm, uncluttered and visually lighter than the original room.
With these priorities in mind, the project focused on delivering a fully fitted bathroom that improved accessibility, maximised space and introduced a clean, contemporary design tailored to everyday family life.
Bathroom Design
Senior Designer Angela worked closely with her client to rethink the layout, creating a space that feels more balanced and better suited to everyday family life.
The bath was removed and replaced with a walk-in shower and fixed glass screen, helping to open the room while making it far easier to use. Repositioning the basin alongside the WC on the window wall also helped to improve the overall flow, allowing for more comfortable movement and a clearer sense of space.
To complete the design, a recessed shower niche was built into the wall, offering practical storage for toiletries while adding a subtle, spa-inspired detail.
Material choices played a key role in bringing the design together. Large-format wall tiles were selected to create a seamless, light-enhancing backdrop, helping the room feel brighter and more open. These were paired with soft neutral tones to maintain a calm, understated aesthetic.
Warm wood-effect finishes were introduced through the vanity unit and feature radiator, adding depth and contrast to the space while softening the overall look. This balance between clean lines and natural textures helps the room feel both contemporary and inviting.
The final design delivers a modern walk-in shower bathroom in Ilkley that feels spacious, well-planned and carefully tailored to the needs of the household.
Installation
Following the design stage, the project moved seamlessly into installation, with careful planning ensuring a smooth transition from concept to completion.
The bathroom was installed by multi-skilled fitter Mark, who managed the works on site and ensured each stage of the project was carried out with precision and attention to detail. From the initial strip-out through to plumbing, tiling and final installation, each element was delivered to a high standard.
The installation of the walk-in shower, including the fixed glass screen and integrated niche, required careful coordination to achieve a clean, minimal finish. Attention to detail throughout ensured that all junctions, fittings and finishes aligned perfectly, reinforcing the overall quality of the space.
Installation Surveyor Joe worked closely alongside both the designer and fitting team, overseeing the project from early planning through to completion. His role ensured that the design translated accurately into the finished bathroom, with all elements delivered efficiently and in line with the agreed schedule.
As with all More Bathrooms projects, the installation was fully managed, providing a clear, organised and stress-free experience for our client and her family.

The finished project is a bright, modern bathroom that feels both practical and thoughtfully designed.

The improved layout allows for better movement, while the considered placement of fixtures creates a more open and balanced feel.
The combination of large-format tiles, soft neutral tones and warm wood accents delivers a bathroom that feels calm, light, contemporary and subtly spa-inspired. Storage is integrated seamlessly, helping to maintain a clean and uncluttered space that is easy to use and maintain.
What was once a restrictive and underperforming bathroom is now a modern fitted bathroom in Ilkley, designed around our clients needs and built to support everyday living.
