Easy Access Bathroom Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 18 May 2016

Problem:

Mrs Bell was an existing customer who we had done work for 5 years previous. Working on behalf of Leeds City Council and the Disabled Facilities Grant we converted Mrs Bell’s existing bathroom into a safe & practical wet room to help Mrs Bell bathe safely and with ease.

5 years on Mrs Bell was unhappy with the provided solution, specified by the Council and Grant team. Unfortunately, and rarely, the wet floor shower was not simply not compatible with Mrs Bell’s wants and desires even though it was the best solution for her needs.

Craving the need to bathe and enjoy a relaxing experience Mrs Bell, an existing customer who was thrilled with the workmanship, received service and amount of care & attention given, came back to More Ability to reconvert her Wet Room back to a Bathroom for her to enjoy and experience as desired.

Solution:

Given the need for ease of use & accessibility, whatever the outcome, Andy Keir, More Ability Surveyor & Designer, looked to incorporate an easy access bathing solution into the bathroom refurbishment to firstly allow for Mrs Bell to bathe in safety but to secondly, create the relaxing sanctuary she desired.

Andy proposed a transferable ‘molly bather’ bath lift to allow for Mrs Bell to get in and out of the bath with ease. Furthermore, and due to Mrs Bell being a fan of the more traditional bathroom setting, Andy also suggested incorporating a traditional styled raised height WC & pedestal basin which would subtly enhance her overall bathing experience in a safe & stylish manor.

Outcome:

The reconverted room was transformed from a safe & practical, mobility looking, wet room to a safe & stylish traditionally styled easy access bathing solution. Finished off with a combination of full height tiling to the bathing area, half height tiling to the remaining walls and sleek black slip resistant panel vinyl to the floor Mrs Bell was elated with the completed works claiming it was ‘the safe solution she always wanted.’

What mrs bell said about more bathrooms:

“Thanks for a really good job in fitting me a lovely bathroom. Craig, our fitter, was a very clean, tidy, kind and friendly man. “
