Small Bathroom Case Study | Bradford | West Yorkshire

Published: 1 July 2016

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Calpin had a dated, 90’s style, sage green bathroom suite consisting of a bath with over shower mixer and curtain rail and matching oyster shell WC and pedestal basin. The room was half tiled to the bathing & showering area with gradient effect cream wall tiles and a detailed sage border with sage coloured paint applied to the surrounding areas. Although the suite was in fully working order it was starting to age through use and as a result needed a little TLC coupled with a keen eye for design to truly transform the room.

Solution:

Mr & Mrs Calpin made it clear from the start that they were happy with the overall layout of the room. Yes they wanted to modernise & enhance their bathing experience however the refurbishment works were to concentrate on evolution rather than revolution with regards to updating what was already in situ.

The original design of the room certainly made best use of the available space and as a result a simple rip out and rip fit with updated and modern fixtures was how this refurbishment was to pan out. More Bathrooms Surveyor & Designer, Nigel Dawson, took the lead with regards to educating and presenting what fixtures and design would work best, keeping in mind what preferences the couple had specified in earlier conversations.

Outcome:

The finished refurbished suite was a perfect example of how big a transformation could be achieved by simply updating the fundamental fixtures. The bath with shower mixer, WC & pedestal basin were ripped out and replaced with the latest glacier white modern designs which was further complimented with the updated floor and wall coverings. The biggest change in the bathroom was achieved through colour and application of the tiles. All walls were half height tiled in a dark blue / grey ceramic, which was also applied to the floor. The top half of the room was then decorated in an off white which further enhanced all tones and colour pallets on display.
