Small Bathroom Case Study | Leeds | West Yorkshire

Published: 24 November 2017

Problem

Mr & Mrs Hayter had a higgledy-piggledy, tired, and small bathroom that was in need of some TLC.

The family bathroom featured harlequin titles (mint green and pastel pink) with a detailed border to the walls, an 80’s styled matching ivory suite (bath, basin & WC) and octagon lino to the floor.

Nothing in the suite matched and although the bathroom worked it was neither functional for the family’s requirements or an aspirational space that they could relax in and enjoy.

Solution:

Given the size of the room, and location of the window, design was very limited and, with two young children, a bathing facility was essential, which ruled out exploring alternative amenities to make the most of the available space.

Wanting to improve their general bathing and showering facilities More Bathrooms Surveyor & Designer, Garry, began to explore what he could do to make the family bathroom a functional space to bathe, and one that they could enjoy and be proud of.

Outcome:

It was decided a straight forward rip out and refit would best suit Mr & Mrs Hayters requirements with concentrated time focused upon the key fixtures and fittings, rather than a design led inspiration.

With that in mind Garry proposed upgrading the over bath electric shower to a mixing valve, which would enhance performance, and install a run of semi-recessed fitted furniture to, not only house the basin and WC, but to create additional bathroom storage and conceal the pipework making it a safer space for the young children.

As well upgrading all the main facilities with new, modernised, fixtures the couple also had a new ceiling put in along with bathroom heating and bathroom lighting instruments. The family bathroom was finished in a beige tile, which complimented the tones of the fitted furniture, making a lighter, brighter and warmer suite.

what mr & mrs hayter said about more bathrooms:

Thank you so much Passmores for our fabulous new bathroom! The design and quality is superb. I can’t stop staring at it! Both Garry, the designer, and Steve, the fitter, were absolute stars and both seemed to genuinely care about making sure we had a room we were happy with.

The installation process was hassle free, we were kept informed every step of the way, the house was always left neat & tidy throughout the work, and most importantly we had a working toilet at the end of each day - essential with kids! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
