En-Suite Case Study | York | North Yorkshire

Published: 22 January 2018

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Webster lived in a lovely house that occupied four bathroom / shower room variations consisting of a main house bathroom, two en-suite bathrooms (one master) and a downstairs cloakroom. Although in good working order we were tasked with completely renovating the master en-suite bathroom, while titivating the main house bathroom.

The master en-suite was to be the project focus however we were asked to investigate and uncover a drainage dilemma that was causing an unpleasant smell in the main house bathroom, causing the drainage waste to fill up and clog in the en-suite bathroom which needed solving before it was renovated.

Solution:

More Bathrooms Surveyor & Designer, Andy Keir, met the couple on site to learn more about their project, wants, needs and requirements before surveying the areas of work. Although the master en-suite bathroom was the main focus it was a matter or priority that the drainage issue be solved prior to any significant renovation work.

Having investigated the main house bathroom it was difficult to pin-point the problem without removing the existing shower enclosure which was where the smell was coming from. Confident we would be able to rectify the drainage problem it was decided we would rip out and replace the shower enclosure in the main bathroom, fix the drainage issue and then renovate the en-suite bathroom.

With regards to the en-suite, Mr & Mrs Webster were specific in their design requests and installation requirements. Wanting a large walk-in shower unit with his & hers vanity basin units as a matter of priority the design and layout of the remainder of the suite was left to Andy to inspire and design.

Outcome:

Consisting of a semi-recessed bath, enclosed with mirrors and black mosaics, a vanity basin unit and closed couple WC the existing en-suite bathroom was transformed into a stylish and spacious walk-in shower room.

Ensuring everything on Mr & Mrs Webster tick list was featured, Andy had removed a patrician wall to create the additional space required to allow for the & hers vanity basin units which were the real statement features in the renovated suite. Rectifying the drainage issue, installing new waste pipes and system, the main house bathroom and, more importantly, the master en-suite shower room were transformed into fully-functioning wash room that the whole family could enjoy.

What mr & mrs webster said about more bathrooms:

Fantastic Job. Installers Steve and Jamie both did an excellent job in replacing our bathroom and shower. Very conscientious and wanted to do things at a good pace and to a high finish. Thank you very much.”
