Easy Access Shower Room Case Study | Harrogate | North Yorkshire

Published: 23 November 2018

Problem:

Mr & Mrs Knight had an unassumingly simple 3 piece traditional bathroom suite that consisted of a closed couple WC, pedestal basin and bath with overhead shower mixer.

Starting to struggle getting in and out the bath the couple decided the time had come to install an easy access shower solution however wanted to do so without changing the aesthetics of the room.

Solution:

With design retention being the key More Bathrooms Surveyor and Designer, Andy, visited the property in order to determine how he could provide a suitable solution without dismantling the room’s heritage. Deciding the best course of action would be to remove the bath and install a low level walk-in shower enclosure in its space the trick now was to preserve the symbolic tiling.

Fully tiled in a white gloss the statement feature had to be the navy blue 3D dado boarder tile that stood proud and cemented the traditional feel. Deciding to only overlay wall boards in the wet area, due to removing the bath, Andy matched the colour schemes with meticulous detail.

Outcome:

An unassumingly simple 3 piece traditional bathroom suite was updated to create an accessible shower solution in keeping with the aesthetical design. Featuring a bath replacement low level walk-in shower enclosure the wet area was finished with complimentary wall boards to preserve the original style. Keeping the sanitary ware that was already in situ these fixtures were modernised with traditional brassware from the Burlington range.
