Background

This bathroom renovation in York began when our client discovered us through visiting our Harrogate showroom to explore ideas in person. Our client was looking to completely refurbish her datedsmall bathroom and wanted guidance on how best to use the space.

The overall aim was to create a light, simple and contemporary bathroom that felt easy to live with, while making the most of the available space.

Design

Senior Designer Simon approached the layout with a focus on openness and practicality. By removing the bath and introducing a spacious walk-in shower, the room immediately felt larger and more functional. Careful planning ensured the shower area was generous enough to feel comfortable, without compromising the rest of the layout.

A clean, neutral palette was chosen to enhance the sense of space, with soft wall tiling paired with a striking feature tile within the shower area to add depth and interest. The positioning of the vanity, WC and shower enclosure was considered to improve flow, while maintaining a balanced and uncluttered look throughout.

Storage was kept simple but effective, ensuring everything had its place without overwhelming the room, with a vanity basin unit providing practical storage while complementing the tones of the feature tile beautifully.

Installation

The fully design and fit project was managed by Project Manager Joe, who ensured everything ran smoothly from initial strip-out through to completion. Installation was carried out by our multi-skilled fitter Stuart, whose attention to detail is evident throughout the finished space.

Behind the scenes, adjustments were made to accommodate the new walk-in shower and upgraded plumbing, allowing for the installation of a modern mixer shower solution. Wall and floor tiling were completed with precision, alongside the installation of new sanitaryware and fittings. Every element was carefully fitted from design to install to ensure a clean, seamless finish that not only looks great but performs reliably day to day.

Finishes & Features

The overall feel of the showeroom is fresh, calm and modern. Light-toned wall tiles create a clean backdrop, while the green feature tiles within the walk-in shower add texture and a subtle focal point without overpowering the space.

The walk-in shower itself is open and inviting, with glass panels helping to maintain a sense of flow and light throughout the room. A modern rainfall shower adds a touch of luxury, transforming the everyday routine into something more enjoyable.

Underfoot, wood-effect flooring introduces warmth and contrast, softening the look and making the space feel more comfortable and lived-in. Finishing touches, including sleek brassware and carefully chosen accessories, bring everything together, creating a bathroom that feels balanced, practical and easy to use.

The Results

The finished result is a thoughtfully designed small bathroom renovation in York that feels significantly more spacious, modern and functional. By replacing the bath with a well-proportioned walk-in shower, the room now works far better for everyday use, while still feeling comfortable and considered.
