Walk-In Shower Renovation | Harrogate | More Bathrooms
Published: 12 February 2026
This Walk-in Shower renovation in Harrogate shows what’s possible in a compact, windowless space when the design is clear and the details are well considered. Ms Frankcom wanted a shower room that felt lighter, more spacious, and more her style with low-maintenance finishes and a few comfort-led touches that make everyday use feel easier.
Background
Ms Frankcom had lived in her Harrogate property for several years. The shower room itself wasn’t particularly old, but it never really suited her taste. With no window, the space could feel flat and enclosed, even after a new ceiling light had been fitted.
She knew the room was small and suspected the layout may need to stay largely like-for-like, but she wanted guidance on what would work best and how to make the space feel brighter and more open without overcomplicating it.

Objective
The aim of this shower room refurbishment in Harrogate was to update the finishes, improve the sense of space, and create a modern look that would be easy to maintain.
Ms Frankcom priorities were a walk-in shower that felt open rather than boxed-in, wall panelling around the shower area for a streamlined finish, and a built in fitted shower seat for everyday comfort. With the room being windowless, the design also needed to work harder on light reflection, simplicity, and clean lines.

Walk-In Shower Room Design
Garry’s design approach focused on opening the room up as much as possible, carefully introducing warmth and contrast in all the right places to create a space that feels both expansive and inviting.
Garry designed the walk-in shower with a slim, black framed screen and a black shower tray to give the space a strong contemporary edge. Matte black shower fittings were carried through to keep everything cohesive, rather than introducing multiple finishes in a small room a detail Garry was careful to get right.
To soften the look and bring warmth into the space, Garry introduced wood-effect wall panelling within the shower area. It adds texture without visual clutter and creates a calm backdrop for the black detailing. A fitted seat was integrated neatly inside the walk-in shower. Practical, comfortable, and intentionally built into the design so it feels like part of the room rather than an afterthought, exactly as Garry intended.
The sanitary ware a WC and basin, is intrigued in a slim run of fitted furniture to conceal all pipework and offer a company storage solution to keep everyday toiletries tucked away, helping the room feel tidy and spacious. Light-toned floor tiling and clean white walls support the “lighter and brighter” brief, while the black towel radiator adds contrast and definition without overpowering the space.

Walk-In Shower Room Installation
As part of the full walk-in shower renovation, the project was managed through from design to installation and finishing. With a compact room like this, the success is in the detail aligning finishes, keeping junctions neat, and ensuring the room feels simple, clean and well resolved.
Bathroom installer Joe led the installation on site, working carefully through each stage to maintain the integrity of the design. He was supported by main fitter Daniel, whose attention to detail and craftsmanship ensured every element was fitted precisely and finished to a high standard.
Ms Frankcom's new walk-in shower room now feels noticeably brighter, cleaner, and more contemporary. The walk-in shower layout makes the room feel more open, while the wall panelling adds warmth and depth a combination that works particularly well in a windowless space. Most importantly, the space now feels like it fits Ms Frankcoms home and her requirements: practical, low maintenance, and comfortable to use every day.

Trustpilot Review
Ms Frankcoms shared a 5-star Trustpilot review following completion:
“Updating shower room project went very smoothly. All Passmore team were great. Designer Garry had suggestions that really improved the initial plan. Joe did a great job of overseeing project, communications and keeping everything running smoothly. Danny did a brilliant job installing the shower room; he was a very considerate, tidy worker. All involved were very responsive to my requirements and patiently adapted whenever I changed my mind. Whole process was as stress-free as possible and finished result looks and works great.”
