Easy Access Walk-In Shower Bathroom Renovation | Bradford | More Bathrooms

Published: 2 April 2026

Background

After discovering More Bathrooms online, our client booked a free design appointment through our website to explore how their existing bathroom could be improved.

The original space featured a bath, basin and WC, but the layout no longer worked for modern day living. It felt dated, lacked effective storage and didn’t make the most of the available space. The brief was to create a modern bathroom that felt light, open and easy to use. A key priority was replacing the bath with a walk-in shower, alongside introducing fitted bathroom furniture to improve storage and achieve a clean, streamlined finish.

As a retired couple, the brief also focused on future-proofing the bathroom in a way that felt considered rather than clinical. The inclusion of a built-in shower bench was a key part of this offering comfort, accessibility and ease of use, while integrating effortlessly into the modern design. While the client had a clear idea of the look they wanted, they relied on our design expertise to guide the layout and bring the space together.

Bathroom Design

Senior Designer Garry carefully reworked the layout to improve flow, functionality and overall balance within the room. Removing the bath allowed space for a walk-in shower with a fixed glass screen, instantly opening up the room and creating a more contemporary, minimal feel. This change not only enhanced accessibility but also made the space feel significantly larger.

A recessed shower niche was introduced within the wall, providing practical storage while adding depth and a subtle spa-inspired detail to the design. To improve organisation and maximise space, a run of fitted bathroom furniture was installed, combining the basin and WC into one cohesive layout. This approach keeps the room looking clean and uncluttered, while neatly concealing pipework.

Large-format tiles were selected to create a seamless, modern finish. By reducing grout lines, they help enhance the sense of space while also being practical and easy to maintain. An LED illuminated mirror completes the design, adding both functional lighting and a contemporary focal point. To future-proof the space, a discreet grab rail was also incorporated within the shower area, ensuring the bathroom remains practical and accessible long-term. A contemporary heated towel rail was also introduced, adding both practical warmth and a subtle design feature, helping to enhance comfort while complementing the clean, modern look of the space.

Materials & Finishes

The overall look centres around soft neutral tones and large-format wall tiles, creating a bright and calming environment.

Subtle texture within the tiles adds interest without overwhelming the space. A wood-effect vinyl floor was chosen to introduce warmth and texture, softening the overall look while providing a durable, practical surface ideal for everyday use. Sleek chrome and brassware fittings and minimalist detailing enhance the contemporary feel, resulting in a modern fitted bathroom that feels both stylish and practical.

Installation

Following the design phase, the project moved smoothly into installation. Multi-skilled fitter Mark led the installation, delivering a high-quality finish across every stage of the project. From initial strip-out through to final detailing, his attention to detail ensured the finished bathroom reflected the design exactly. Project Manager Rob oversaw the project, coordinating all elements of the installation and ensuring everything ran efficiently from start to completion.

The works included a full strip-out of the existing bathroom, installation of new plumbing and electrics, tiling throughout and fitting of all furniture and fixtures.

Project Outcome

The result is a modern walk-in shower bathroom in that feels bright, spacious and easy to use.

By replacing the bath with a walk-in shower and introducing fitted storage, the room now works far better for everyday life. The improved layout creates a natural flow, while the clean finishes keep the space feeling calm and uncluttered. Large tiles, soft tones and warm accents come together to create a bathroom that feels both contemporary and timeless.

What was once a dated space has been transformed into a fully fitted bathroom designed around the client’s needs, offering comfort, practicality and style for years to come.
