Easy Access Shower Transformation | Otley | More Bathrooms

Published: 22 May 2025

Renovation Brief

Referred by a friend whose bathroom we renovated a decade ago, Ms. Foster approached More Bathrooms looking to transform her existing space into a future-proofed, more accessible shower room.

Keen to remove the existing bath, toilet, basin and pedestal, Ms Foster reimagine the space with improved storage, heating, and accessibility—all while reducing maintenance and modernising the look and feel of the room.

Although she was content with the current tiles, she wanted the new wall coverings to complement them, while enhancing the room’s warmth and making it feel more open and uncluttered. Her top priorities included ease of use, improved heat output, a sleek modern aesthetic, and features that offered longevity.

Easy Access Shower Design

Senior Designer Michelle worked closely with Ms. Foster to create a layout that addressed both form and function. At the heart of the new scheme was a stylish and accessible walk-in shower with an overhead rain shower and a user-friendly electric shower unit—chosen for both its practicality and ease of control.

To reduce cleaning effort and improve hygiene, Zest light-coloured wall panels were introduced. These grout-free wall boards offered a fresh, low-maintenance finish that worked harmoniously with the existing tiles while brightening the space.

Storage was significantly improved with the introduction of a Fjord green vanity and WC unit. Not only did the furniture add a pop of warmth and modernity to the design, but the WC also featured a raised height pan to support future accessibility needs. A complementary wall unit, positioned conveniently at the foot of the shower area, added additional practical storage space—something Ms. Foster was particularly appreciative of.

Black finishes were thoughtfully used throughout the room to add a contemporary edge. From taps, shower fixtures and profiles, to the black Hugo radiator (offering a much higher heat output than the original rail), each detail was chosen to create a cohesive, modern look. A sleek black grab bar was also installed within the shower, providing necessary support without sacrificing design integrity.

Finally, the old floor tiles were replaced with anti-slip LVT flooring. Warmer underfoot and safer for daily use, the new floor added both comfort and style—completing the transformation.

Easy Access Shower Installation

Following Michelle’s design, Installations Surveyor Joe carried out a detailed technical assessment to ensure seamless planning and implementation. Multi-Skilled Fitter Tony then brought the project to life, completing the renovation with meticulous attention to detail and professionalism throughout.

As with all More Bathrooms projects, this renovation was fully project-managed from consultation through to completion, delivering peace of mind alongside a first-class finish.

Conclusion

This Otley shower renovation stands as a fantastic example of how thoughtful design and expert execution can completely transform a space to meet evolving needs—without compromising on style. By blending modern aesthetics, smart storage, and future-proofed features, the finished room delivers the perfect balance of elegance, comfort, and functionality.
