Modern Bathroom & Easy Access Shower Renovation | South Milford | More Bathrooms

Published: 18 June 2025

Renovation Brief:

Mr Walker first discovered More Bathrooms online and booked his design appointment over the phone. Residing in South Milford, Leeds, Andrew was seeking a full-service provider who could bring expert guidance, a clear vision, and high standards of execution to his multi-bathroom renovation project.

With a passion for cycling and a busy family lifestyle, Andrew wanted two distinct spaces tailored to his needs: a calming, modern, sanctuary upstairs where he could enjoy a relaxing soak post-ride, and a modern, accessible shower room downstairs to serve the household efficiently both now and into the future.

The renovation encompassed the transformation of the upstairs Modern Family Bathroom and the downstairs Easy Access Shower Room. The brief called for thoughtful design that improved functionality, made better use of existing space, and embraced modern styling with long-term practicality.

Modern Bathroom Design:

Originally fitted with a walk-in shower that featured a large step-up, the upstairs bathroom lacked a bath — something Andrew particularly desired for muscle recovery after cycling. During the design consultation, Senior Designer Angela recommended a large freestanding bath, which could be perfectly positioned in the rear alcove of the room.

To accommodate this elegant centrepiece, the WC was relocated, allowing for a more spacious and symmetrical layout. The design adopted a modern, contemporary tone using light grey fulltiling and striking black feature walls behind the basin and bath, creating strong visual contrast.

Matt black fixtures and fittings enhanced the stylish aesthetic, complemented by a wall-hung, back-to-wall WC with a concealed cistern and a large white towel radiator. Storage was incorporated through a wall-hung vanity basin unit with two deep drawers in coordinating light grey furniture.

To elevate the mood and functionality, bright downlights were installed in focal areas to draw attention to the freestanding bath and bespoke detailing, including a custom-built niche with integrated recessed lighting behind the bath — adding both ambience and storage.

Easy Access Shower Design:

Downstairs, Andrew wanted to replace the over-bath shower with a more accessible and future-proofed showering solution for his family. Angela proposed a low-level slate shower tray to eliminate stepping hazards while ensuring the room would remain practical for years to come.

The focal point of this striking design was the walk-in shower area, featuring dramatic dark grey tiles and a wood-effect back wall panel, providing rich texture and visual warmth. A custom-built shower bench was added for comfort and convenience, while a sleek glass partition kept the space open and light.

The slimline wood-effect vanity basin unit tied the space together, complementing the anthracite towel radiator and chrome fittings. The wall-hung WC with concealed cistern mirrored the upstairs installation, creating a cohesive and contemporary feel across both rooms.

The overall effect was a highly practical and visually bold space that blended style with smart, discreet adaptations.

Bathroom & Easy Access Shower Room Installation:

The project was fully managed by Installations Surveyor Joe, ensuring all trades and timelines were coordinated seamlessly. Multi-Skilled Fitter Jarick brought Angela’s vision to life with precision and dedication, delivering a flawless finish in both rooms.

Careful coordination allowed for efficient delivery without compromise — Andrew praised both the quality of workmanship and the team’s professional approach throughout in his 5* Trustpilot review.

Customer Trustpilot Review:

“First class service from start to finish. Cannot fault More Bathrooms and with two bathrooms completed I can say that the quality of product and skilled workmanship is of a very high standard. Expensive but you get what you pay for, and a three-year guarantee is very reassuring. Highly recommend.”
