Renovation Brief

Mr & Mrs Kinison, already aware of More Bathrooms, visited our Leeds showroom where they met Senior Designer Garry. Their existing bathroom, now 19 years old, had become tired and dated. While they wanted a fresh, modern update, the couple were keen to retain the bath with overhead shower concept that suited their lifestyle.

Open to ideas but not wanting to drastically alter the layout, they also highlighted a few key features they wished to incorporate—LED lighting for added ambience and a towel warmer for comfort and practicality. Following an in-depth discussion in the showroom, Garry arranged a home design appointment to explore the possibilities further.

Modern Bathroom Design

With the layout largely preserved, the refreshed design was focused on updating finishes, maximising storage, and introducing modern styling. A new large vanity basin unit with a matching tall storage cabinet was installed, forming part of a sleek modular fitted furniture range. Finished in a light grey tone, the furniture tied seamlessly into the chosen colour palette, echoed in both the wall and floor coverings.

To create a streamlined, contemporary look, the walls were fully tiled in Madagascar light grey tiles. A striking feature tile was applied along the main fixture wall, adding visual depth and interest to the scheme. To achieve a flawless finish, a purpose-built stud wall was constructed along this same run, concealing pipework and allowing for a seamless backdrop.

The design cleverly integrated practicality with style: a wall-hung WC with concealed cistern was positioned next to the vanity, enhancing the modern aesthetic while also freeing up floor space. The stud wall also provided a useful shelf, perfect for everyday storage and decorative touches.

The bath was retained, now complemented by a sleek new shower valve and bath filler positioned on the stud wall, enabling the controls to be reached without stepping under the water—a thoughtful touch that adds convenience to daily use.

Colour, Texture & Finishing Touches

For a balanced yet striking contrast, dark grey vinyl flooring was chosen to complement the lighter wall tiles. A matching anthracite towel radiator completed the look, offering both warmth and style. Above the basin, a large mirrored LED cabinet was installed, providing ample storage, effective lighting, and a reflective surface to enhance the sense of space.

The overall scheme combines practical family-friendly features with contemporary design details, creating a bathroom that is both fresh and timeless.

Modern Bathroom Installation

The technical details of Garry’s design were translated into reality by Installations Surveyor Joe. Multi-Skilled Fitter Louis then expertly brought the plans to life, delivering a flawless finish that embodies More Bathrooms’ fully project-managed design and fit service.

Project Outcome

The result is a stylish, modern bathroom that has transformed a tired, outdated space into a bright and contemporary room. By preserving the couple’s preferred bath and shower arrangement while upgrading fixtures, finishes, and storage, the renovation has provided the perfect balance between familiarity and modern comfort.

The concealed pipework, LED lighting, and integrated storage solutions give the bathroom a sleek, clutter-free appearance, while thoughtful design touches—such as the shower controls positioned for easy access—add real everyday convenience.
