Renovation Brief

Having visited our Mirfield Showroom, the clients were warmly greeted by Showroom Consultant Dawn, who listened carefully as they shared their frustrations with their existing bathroom. The room felt cramped and dated, featuring a large corner bath that dominated the space, a tiny shower cubicle, poor lighting, and even a carpeted floor. Despite these limitations, the clients wanted to retain the convenience of a four-piece suite but modernise it to create a practical, comfortable, and contemporary retreat.

They were uncertain whether to choose tiles or wall panels, concerned about the long-term maintenance of grout lines and potential mould. The key goals were to increase space and accessibility, improve lighting, and achieve a stylish yet practical look that would stand the test of time.

After discussing their requirements, Dawn arranged a design appointment with Senior Designer Julie to explore how the bathroom could be reimagined.

Contemporary Bathroom Design

Julie immediately identified that a complete layout change would be key to unlocking the bathroom’s potential. By rehanging the door, the room would open up as soon as you entered, instantly creating a sense of space. This reconfiguration also allowed for the installation of both a luxurious full-size bath and a spacious walk-in shower with an integrated spa bench for comfort and accessibility.

A new side support wall was built within the shower area, incorporating a recessed niche to neatly store everyday toiletries. The WC was repositioned and paired with a concealed cistern behind a custom stud wall—enhancing the modern, streamlined aesthetic while simplifying cleaning and maintenance.

To achieve a crisp, contemporary look, Julie recommended wet wall panels in the shower and half-height across the remaining walls. This approach eliminated grout lines while maintaining a clean, low-maintenance finish. The upper walls were plastered and painted, allowing the clients to personalise the space further.

Storage was maximised with a wall-hung vanity unit in charcoal matt, complementing white sanitaryware and chrome brassware. To complete the look, an anthracite ladder radiator, Rosedale oak-effect LVT flooring, and subtle LED lighting were introduced, creating a warm yet modern atmosphere.

Colour, Texture & Finishing Touches

The chosen colour palette of white and grey was softened with warmer tones in the oak-effect flooring, striking a perfect balance between contemporary style and comfort. A Storm wet wall design introduced gentle texture and movement, while new inset lighting and UPVC ceiling panels ensured a bright, inviting ambience.

The addition of a heated ladder radiator, LED mirror, and niche lighting elevated the overall scheme, giving the bathroom a polished, high-end finish that’s both functional and beautiful.

Bathroom Installation

Once the design was finalised, Installations Surveyor Joe and Multi-Skilled Fitter Mark worked together to deliver Julie’s vision to perfection. Every element—from the reconfigured layout to the lighting plan—was meticulously executed as part of More Bathrooms’ fully project-managed service.

The result is a bright, elegant, and practical bathroom that perfectly meets the clients’ needs for space, comfort, and style.

Project Outcome & Conclusion

The transformation is nothing short of remarkable. The once-cramped and outdated bathroom has been reimagined into a contemporary, spacious retreat with luxurious finishes and thoughtful design touches throughout.

The new layout not only optimises functionality but also enhances accessibility and ease of use. The combination of durable wet wall panels, a spa-inspired shower area, and improved lighting ensures that this bathroom will remain practical and stylish for years to come.

Customer Feedback

The clients were thrilled with their new bathroom and shared their experience in a glowing 5-star Trustpilot review:

“Everyone involved with Passmore have been so good. From Julie who designed our bathroom to Rob who project managed it but finally Mark Armitage the bathroom fitter. They couldn’t do enough for us and we are so happy to have the bathroom of our dreams.”
