Background

After booking a free design appointment through our website, the homeowners got in touch looking to completely renovate their existing bathroom. We then arranged for Senior Designer Andy to visit their home in Leeds, assess the space and talk through their ideas in detail.

From the outset, they had a clear vision for how they wanted the room to look and meet their needs. The existing bathroom no longer reflected their style or met their practical needs, and they were keen to start again with a completely fresh design, bearing in mind future proofing their home. While they were open-minded about specific products and layouts, they were particularly drawn to a minimalist, easy-to-maintain aesthetic inspired by modern Japanese and Scandinavian design principles.

Their wish list included clever built-in storage, concealed fittings, integrated niches, warm natural textures, and a calming, spa-like atmosphere. Above all, they wanted a bathroom that felt uncluttered, relaxing and effortless to use every day.

Design & Layout

Senior Designer Andy carefully developed a bathroom design that balances simplicity, functionality and warmth, creating a modern space that feels both luxurious and calming while future proofing the room for everyday living.

One of the most striking features of the easy access shower room is the large walk-in shower area. Rather than introducing unnecessary visual interruptions, the design uses a minimalist frameless glass screen and sleek black brassware to create clean lines throughout the room. The result is a spacious showering area that feels open, contemporary and beautifully understated.

The soft neutral wall tiles play a major role in creating the room's calming atmosphere. Finished in warm beige tones, the large-format tiles provide a seamless backdrop that reflects natural light throughout the space while maintaining the understated aesthetic the homeowners were hoping to achieve.

Built-in recessed niches eliminate the need for bulky furniture while providing practical everyday storage for toiletries. These architectural details help maintain the minimalist appearance while enhancing functionality.

The wall-hung basin and concealed cistern WC further contribute to the sense of space. By keeping the floor area visible and reducing visual clutter, the room feels larger, lighter and easier to maintain. A slim floating shelf introduces the warmth of natural wood tones, complementing the rich wood-effect vinyl flooring and helping to create the Japandi-inspired look the homeowners originally envisioned.

Lighting was also carefully considered throughout the design. The illuminated mirror introduces both task lighting and ambient lighting, allowing the room to transition effortlessly from bright practical use to a softer, more relaxing atmosphere during the evening.

Installation

The installation was completed by Lead Fitter Andy, with Installation Surveyor Joe overseeing the project from initial design hand over through to installation to ensure every aspect of the bathroom refurbishment progressed smoothly.

From the large-format wall tiling and integrated niches through to the easy access walk-in shower, every element was installed with exceptional care and attention to detail. The sanitaryware was semi-recessed into a purpose-built wall, neatly concealing all pipework to create a clean, streamlined finish.

The Result

What was once a dated bathroom is now a beautifully calm and modern retreat inspired by modern Japandi design principles.

Through thoughtful planning, clever storage furniture and carefully selected finishing touches, the room now feels significantly more spacious, organised and relaxing.
