Wanting to replace their bath with a more practical showering solution, the homeowners approached More Bathrooms to completely renovate their existing bathroom.
Working with Senior Designer Garry the room was redesigned as a contemporary walk-in shower replacing the bath with a spacious level access room while refreshing the walls, flooring, ceiling, sanitaryware and finishing touches throughout.

Background & Brief
The homeowners’ main priority was simple: they wanted their bath taken out and a shower installed in its place, creating a more practical and future-athroom that would be easier and more comfortable to use both now and in the years ahead.
Rather than making a straightforward bath-to-shower swap, they decided to use the opportunity to completely renovate the bathroom, stripping the existing space back and creating a fresh new level access walk-in shower room designed around their needs.
Working alongside Senior Designer Garry the homeowners explored the different materials, finishes and layout options available, ultimately choosing a design that would provide a generous showering area while making practical use of the rest of the room.
The aim was to create something that felt brighter and more contemporary, but above all, a bathroom that would be comfortable and practical to use every day.
Design
With the bath removed, the available space could be completely reconsidered.
The new layout centres around a generous walk-in shower creating an open showering area without the need for a raised shower tray. A clear glass screen separates the shower from the rest of the bathroom while maintaining an open feel and allowing natural light to travel throughout the room.
Within the showering area, a dual shower provides the choice of a large overhead rainfall shower or an adjustable handheld shower.
Elsewhere, purpose-built boxing was incorporated to accommodate a semi-recessed basin and back-to-wall WC. This allowed the pipework and cistern to be neatly concealed within the boxing, creating a clean, streamlined finish while still allowing for straightforward maintenance and access when required.A mirrored storage cabinet provides useful everyday storage above, while a tall heated towel rail completes the practical layout.
Installation
Once the design and material choices had been finalised, the project moved into the installation stage, with the entire bathroom renovation fully project managed by More Bathrooms.
Supported by Bathroom Installation Surveyor Joe, the existing bathroom was completely stripped back. The bath, toilet and existing fixtures were removed, along with the previous wall, floor and ceiling finishes, allowing the room to be properly prepared for its new design.
Lead Fitter Garry then carried out the main installation, bringing together the new wet floor, showering area, glass screen, sanitaryware, wall panels, ceiling and finishing details
Careful attention was given to each stage of the fitting, ensuring the different elements worked together as intended and the completed bathroom achieved the clean, considered finish set out during the design process.
With More Bathrooms coordinating the renovation from start to finish, the homeowners had one team overseeing the different stages of their project.
Finishes & Features
A soft blue and white colour palette gives the completed wet room a bright, calm and contemporary feel.
blue vinyl tiles create a feature within the showering area, introducing colour without overwhelming the relatively compact room. Complementary blue flooring continues across the floor, visually connecting the shower with the rest of the bathroom and creating a cohesive finish.
White sanitaryware and light wall finishes provide a crisp contrast, while chrome fixtures and fittings add a simple contemporary detail throughout.
The clear glass shower screen is particularly effective within the layout, providing separation without visually closing off the showering area. Combined with the natural light from the window, it helps the bathroom retain a spacious and airy feel.
Practical finishing touches, including the mirrored storage cabinet, heated towel rail and dual shower, ensure the room works just as well for everyday use as it does visually
The Result
What was previously a traditional bathroom centred around a bath has been completely transformed into a fresh and practical level-access walk-in shower.
Removing the bath has created a considerably more generous showering area, while the wet floor and glass screen allow the shower to sit naturally within the room rather than feeling enclosed or separate from the rest of the space.
The combination of soft blue finishes, white sanitaryware and chrome detailing keeps the overall design light and contemporary, while thoughtful positioning of the basin, WC and storage makes effective use of the available space.
Most importantly, the finished bathroom delivers exactly what the homeowners originally wanted, a bath-free bathroom with a spacious shower, completed as part of a full renovation rather than a simple fixture replacement.
